JUST TRADED in my 06 3500 5.9 4by 4 l live in Ca bougjt new 3500 larmie 4by . I phoenix Az Larry Miller Avondale.Great selection and price. My high blue was 28k they gave me 26k. When you go tp Ca dmv you need a weigjt ticket and a smog certificate. You will also pay the difference in the tax between what you payed in thestate you bought it in and what you would have payed in Ca. In my case it was another 1,900 plus about 800 to regester ot. Ca views all pickups and l mean all, as commercial vech. The DMV will give you a temp registration until you can provide title or certificate of origin. I just went thru all this crap with DMV a week ago so what l have posted is real and current. Also take the truck down with you becausw they visually have to inspect. Hope this helps those buying a trk outof state
I have a buddy who bought a 3500 DRW in Ca and he had to have it weighed. I had to have my 03 weighed when I brought it into Ca.
I thought this was just for 1 tons, does it also apply to 2500s?
I may give my local dealer a call before going to Boise and see if they will come close to Dillions price.
I would pay 7.5% tax in Kern Co.

You have to have a weight on All Pick/up's and if New Dealer does it or supply's weight cert anyway .and Being All Truck's made are 50 State legal it doesn't matter where you buy it . We bought out Jetta TDI in Nevada. Yes I know it's not a Truck but still a vehicle from out of Calif . Dealer did most of Paper work we had to go into dmv and have vin verified and then pay sales tax it was Easy

I found a nearly identical truck about an hour from home as the one I was looking at in Idaho, minus the 5th wheel prep group which I don't really need.
The invoice prices are within $500 and my local dealer is advertising $9500 off and the dealer in Idaho is $10473. This is on a 2500 Tradesman with some nice options.
Of course the local truck may be sold, (find out within a couple of hours) but for less than $1k, I think I would buy locally. I will ask for a better deal. This will eliminate the travel and having to get the truck weighed and registered myself. It would be at least $500 for a plane ticket and fuel plus 1 or 2 days of my time.
I've decided on a 2500 for a better DD and I don't plan to tow heavy.
Camped in Richfield, Ut tonight and home on Fri.

I was wondering how you were doing on your quest. DS gave me KBB on our trade and we got KBB on our trade in Ronan when we bought our Jeep. With printed figures in your hand,, you should have an edge in the negotiations. Good luck and happy shopping.

One of my local dealers sent a letter claiming they'd pay me over KBB if I was interested in selling my 04.5. I'll call them tomorrow to see what's its all about.

That could be a serious offer, but around here in SoCal, I get letters (flyers disguised as letters) stating they'll give top dollar for your trade in, I'd be leery of that claim. But if its a reasonable offer, that would be nice. Look at a couple of truck trader mags, or look up on line to see what the asking prices are, take that average and you will have a base number that gives you an idea of the true value. Then see what they offer you for it.

I just bought a Toyota RAV4, and when I was just looking to see what the options were at a large Dealer on the 2014, I was promised top dollar for my 2010 RAV4 and that turned out to be BS. They offered 10K, and I negotiated 12K and they prepaid the interest on the remainder of the loan on the balance. It depends on how hungry the Dealer is when your negotiating the trade in value.

Just brought a 3500 dieselin the wonderful state ofCa. Make sure youget a cert of origin a document showing the weight. Or a cert weight ticket that you can get at almost ant truckstop and have it smoged you have to have these three things and also they need to inspect the truck. Found all this out the hard way. Thought l would save you a headache
