I'm going to make A LOT of friends with this post: (sarcasm)
If you don't own DTT parts, then don't even bother being a TDR member. There is nothing better than DTT, never has been, never will be. No company can be more innovative, creative or provide better customer service. If you bought anything else, you are the dumbest SOB to ever drive a Dodge/Cummins.
Have I summed up the general consensus of the automatic-owning TDR members????? Yeah, I thought so.
Now, I have a totally stock auto transmission, and I plan to upgrade it, as I have plans to boost the HP and torque of the 12 valve. BUT, I have yet to decide who is going to get my money for transmission upgrades. One thing that concerns me? NOBODY has anything bad to say about DTT. As a matter of fact, make ONE slightly negative comment about DTT or one slightly positive comment about BD, and the dogs of war on your path! WHY??????
I, for one, do not understand this rabid support of DTT. There are only two constants on the TDR: DTT is the best thing since sliced bread, and Banks is the worst, next to BD. How does one company command such respect, when no other company can? I wonder sometimes. The replies to this post? "Because DTT is the best at blah, blah, blah. " Whatever. Maybe the are, maybe they aren't. The only other time I see such support for a company or its product? Yep, you guessed it, an INFOMERCIAL!
Having said this, will I buy DTT products for my Dodge? Perhaps. I will do the research. I will make the decision, and it will be MY money that gets spent. But let me ask this: What is the one rule of all mutliple choice tests? The answer that contains "always" is always wrong! DTT is "always" the best, "always" the right choice. "always" the only way to go. Why is that? Based on the litmus test I just suggested, such a suggestion should be taken with a lot of caution.
Any given product will have a failure rate. What is DTT's failure rate? Accoding to the TDR members that own DTT products, almost zero!!!!!! Unlikely in my opinion. If you question the products that DTT makes, and you will be burned at the stakes! Why is that? Start a post about Brand X auto transmission products, and Bill is likely to launch a diatribe about why they don't know anything about nothing. Why is that?
I am not saying this to disparage DTT, or anybody else making aftermarket parts for our Dodge/Cummins trucks. Each of these vendors is to be commended for providing a product or service for such a relatively small segment of the total automotive market. Now, having said all of this: Does DTT hold the crown for the best Dodge Automatic transmission upgrades? POSSIBLY. Will I buy DTT products for my Dodge someday? POSSIBLY. Will somebody come out with a better product than DTT someday. DEFINATELY.
At one time, DTT came out with a better product than the competition, who is to say someone else won't! If DTT is currently the top of line, then somebody is aiming for them. Will they succeed? YES! Will DTT respond with something better? MOST LIKELY. Will this process continue until the OEM manufactures make a bullet-proof transmission? YES, then someone will make it NUKE-proof. And the process continues. There is no end to innnovation, but one company cannot and will not be the best product all the time. Any such claims are fool-hardy, and should not be taken seriously.
Now, I'm getting off my soap box, and I'm putting on the mega flame retardant asbestos suit. The flames will be hot and unrelenting. But, I can take it. BRING IT ON!
