Vw Sucks!

So, I had an airbag light go on. I go to the dealer and the service girl comes out and asks me if my battery has died recently. I say "why yes, I did recently have to replace my battery". She says that it is probably a low voltage code.



Well, after about 45 minutes, she comes out and tells me it was a low voltage code. They proceed to charge me $100 for clearing the code. I was so ******. I feel screwed over by VW once again. No wonder they are losing their market share. It cost an arm and a leg to get these cars worked on and the customer service is horrible.



Next feature on VW's is that your low fuel warning light goes on and stays on until you pay VW $100 bucks to have the code reset even though you fill the tank.

just another econo car with a big price tag, all i keep hearing about is how they now have a diesel engine with more giddy up and power than my mighty cummins has, i simply reply let me work on my cummins and VW aint gonna touch it, i also pointed out my truck is about 3 yrs old now, and what the new cummins engines are puttin out. I HATE VW they are a thorn in my hind end

I here ya, I absolutly hate my wifes New Beetle TDI. I cannot utter enough four letter words that will display my frustration with every aspect of this horrible piece of junk.

Yup, we had a 2001 ****-ant, I mean Passat, that was a POS and the service rivalled the lowliness of my GM experiences... ABYSMAL. Dumped it in less than a year and took one hell of a bath in the process.

I like my o5 TDI Golf. It gets 35/45 and I can outrun most other econoboxes from one stop light to the next doing it. But I got mad skillz yo :-laf

It is not right to blame the car itself when it is actually the customer no-service that sux. I think it is great that VW offers a diesel, unlike any of the other econobox car makers. I would buy one if I had the need for a car, but I hate cars because they are of no use besides simple transportation and I need the ability to pull and haul.

I have a 00 Bettle, see truck profile for upgrades, it's the 1. 8 turbo and have had zero problems with it. The only thing I didn't like about it is the owners manual. It's about an inch thick, but if you would have read it, it tells you all about what happens when the battery dies.

:-laf :-laf :-laf Isn't that the truth. I have owned an assortment of VW diesels since 1980, and the 2001 TDI is by far the bottom of the bucket. It has never made me walk, but the overall quality control is just pathetic. Add to that injury the insult of the lousy VW dealers in my area, and well... Just think, with VW moving "up scale" and all, I can look forward to paying $25k + for my next German Rattletrap.

I HATE our 01. 5 VW Passat ... I has been in the shop more times than I care to mention... Intake air sensor at 20k... 450 Bucks. . Cv boots 5K miles apart... Numerous other things... . Too bad, I like the size of the car, but a total POS...

I loved my '98 TDI bug, but they do require some maintenance/tinkering which honestly I like.

You can buy the Vag Com software through Ross tech & service your own.

I have the software on my laptop & the interface cables. I've reset codes & done some diagnostics/timing adjustments. It's easy to do & it divorces you from the *******

What gets me is that Consumer Reports had been rating the Passet best. Better then Toyota Camry and they have a lousy frequency of repair record where the Camry has the best record. And if you get the V-6, you have to use premium fuel, talk about adding insult to injury. Grizzly

WOW!! I've had 3 VW's and loved 'em all. 1st was a 94 Jetta GL. 4 cyl. A bit slow but nice car. Needed rotors replaced at 12k but warranty issue so no problem. I bought an 89 Jetta Diesel for commuting. Purred like a kitten. I think it had 118k when I sold it. I could probably beat it on foot in a 1/4 mile race but I don't get 45mpg. :-laf The last and most beloved was the 97 Passat VR6. My wife loved that car. We hated to give it up but with 3 small children we fell into the mini van trap. That was the most well built, fun to drive car I've ever had. I guess I'm either really lucky or I stopped buying VW's just in time. I've seen a few new Jetta's. They've gone in the wrong direction in the looks department.

I had an 02 Jetta TDI , put 63k on it in 11 months and all I had was a window switch and MAF sensor go bad. I abused the car to no end and even towed my atv and jetskis around with it. I could tow my atv 80mph with the a/c on and still get 35mpg! I would recommend one to anyone.
