your windows inside. i have used the windex bit, newspaper routine, and the armorall expensive crap. still i have streaks and smears... ...

i am deliberate and have plenty of papertowels... .

Armorall glass cleaner and newspaper, I smoke like a chimney and it takes all that crap off, and leaves no streaks or smears on my glass at all.

Later, Rob

Rain-X window cleaner and newspaper. On the road and needed some cleaner, the Rain-X was all they had. I bought it reluctantly due to previous bad experiences with Rain-X, now I wouldn't be without it.

i'll post what i use tonite... ... it's out inthe truck and i'll need to get the name. it works like a charm.

Get you one of those Magic Cloths from DCMille290. Just water and the cloth gets them clean. Do a search and you will find out more about them.

ok ... here's what i use....

Well-Worth Crystal Clean on the windows inside and out... .

takes bugs off with the flick of a wrist.

on my wheels i use Distinctive Details Brake Dust Eliminator... . this stuff makes my wheel look better than new and takes care of the soot on my chrome turn down!!!

anyone in Ct. pm me for info on ordering... . Tim

i normally use windex or something, but that leaves streaks. i often times use the stuff called New Hampshire Glass cleaner (something like that-obviously from the state of NH). it sprays on and leaves a foam. wipe away the foam and the window is clear as new.

You guys clean the inside of your windows? Hmmm, never really occured to me.

The only thing I ever use on the windows, inside and outside, is a simple solution of water and a little dish soap. Fill a spray bottle with water, and add about four drops of dish soap in and you're ready to go. Works like a charm and it's cheap.

There a dozens of good cleaners out there (Ammonia-based, TSP, Vinigar-based, etc... ), but methodology is very important: clean, dry, then polish.

Clean with favorite agent and rags/towels, then dry and polish with newspaper works for me every time.

If you've got water spots, use vinigar.

thanks for all of the replies. i will try vinegar tomorrow. what's witht the newspaper? why is it so good?... . thanks. scott.

Newspaper, it's the ink in the paper it polishes the glass. It is the best thing to use on glass. I'd use windex. The vinegar is good but your truck will smell.

The best stuff I ever found was Bon Ami spray foam but can't find it anymore. I had a bad problem about a month ago on the outside and even alcohol would not cut the film. Just kept working on it and finely got it clean with Windex. I think it had something to with the Rain X coating. Just got a bottle of Armorall windshield cleaner and it seems to work good.

If none of these methods works, you may have silicon smears. I had this on my travel trailer windows, and nothing would shift it. One day, here in England, my wife sidled up to a car windscreen repairer working in the street, fluttered her eyelashes at him, and asked how to get rid of the smears. He gave her a tiny pot of a reddish brown powder, which is, I believe, Jewellers' Rouge, the powder that jewellers use for polishing precious materials. It worked like magic on the smears. In the past it was used as a final polish by glassmakers. For those interested, it is a mixture of ferrous sulphate, ammonium hydroxide and ammonium water. This mixture is then filtered, and burnt in air. The residue is finely powdered, and this is jewellers rouge. You can buy cloths impregnated with it. A search on Google will show you where to buy the stuff, or try your local small jeweller's. If that fails, your local windshield fitter may have some. It's magic! Now would the guy have given me the powder? Nick.

I should have mentioned to apply the jewellers' rouge with a very slightly damp cloth. I confess I just spit on the glass! My truck had been used by a commercial company before I bought it, and they had removed some large advertising transfers from the top of the windshield and the side extended cab windows. These had left marks on the screens, but only at certain angles of sunlight, When the immortal words "WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM" would appear across my view like some spiritual message. Nothing would shift these ghost images until I used Jewellers Rouge. Good luck. Nick.

:D

go with the vinegar/water solution and newspaper. Smells a little funny, but very effective.

Merryman has good formula... ... ... .....
