Locked Out with the Motor Running

he has alot of boost, that is what is puzzling me.

8PSI on a level road would get me in the 90's

just this morning I checked and @ 70MPH i was running 3PSI and 525F EGT's @ 1900RPMs

I cant think of why his boost would be so high, but mileage down. it sounds as if the engine is working too hard.

with a 2WD it would be worth it to go to 3. 55's if you dont need those 4. 10's for pulling.

The IAT is behind the map sensor (way back on the intake manifold) and the specs are:

32*F 30k to 36k ohms

77*F 9k to 11k ohms

122*F 3k to 4k ohms

167 1350 to 1500 ohms

212 600 to 675 ohms

The IAT responds very quickly so make sure you have a stable temp when taking readings. Though it's way back on the manifold, it's not that hard to change.

I've got a 2wd ETH/DEE with 3. 55's and don't make that much boost with 10,000 # 5th wheel trailer. You have to have some kind of drag there, brakes, transmission etc. . I get 12-14 towing, not empty enough to get a reliable number.

Good luck

What should I do next????? I just rotated the tires, brakes look excellent, transmission temp is 190, has never gone over 210. Running 65 psi in the fronts, 55 in the rears.

Just changed the oil, clean air filter, all boost connections are tight, didn't take out sensor yet, want to buy a new one before I remove the one in there.

What will the dealer look for if I take it back??

Call DC and complain......

When I got frustrated with the dealers I called DC and complained. They OK'd me to go to Cummins. Cummins put the truck on the Dyno and said it was within DC's parameters. Nothing they could or would do. I wasn't very impressed with the Cummins shop out here.

Dyno the truck and see where the HP is. If it falls into DC's numbers, well, thats it. They won't go any further.

Hopefully time will improve your truck. As I posted earlier, mild bombing sped the process up for me.

My 2¢ again,

Garrett
