What's Texas Life Like?

Anyone got any pics of the northeast, central, or northwest areas of Texas? Those I think I could live with. I think Central to Northern TX sounds like it would be the place for me. I can deal with cold winters more than humid summers though. I'm from MN so I like to have trees, I don't hug them though. :-laf I think I would be lost without large-grain farmland also. What's San Antonio like? They were always my favorite basketball team when I was a kid. What's the social life like down there? Is it pretty social and "country like", or are their lots of 'cliques'. Are each of the different areas communites a lot different from each other? What are the people like down there? Are the ladies and girls a lot different than they are up here? Values any different than anywhere else? That is important too.....

West Texas isn't known for trees, East Texas has a lot of trees though. The big cities here are probably like big cities anywhere, the small towns are the best kept secret, it's like steping back in time.

How is the weather this time of year? We are looking to drive south in the next week or two for a quick motorcycle ride. Would trailer down, then ride for three days or so. Is cold and roads are ice and salt here in wisconsin and want to get out. If anyone has any advice that would be great, thanks

You can get an idea about way out West Texas (El Paso) from reading my thread "Tell me something good... " There is nothing out here, you have to drive hours East or go to New Mexico. Those Davis Mountains look nice.



San Antonio is a fun place, lived there for a few years, not exactly as good as up North with the season changes and all, but there is plenty to do there. The beer is good, the music is better (if you like country and going to old dance halls), and the BBQ is the best by far.

Conroe, being just north of Houston, is probably 80-90 miles from the Gulf Coast which, as you recall, I mentioned was similar to Louisiana - hence, the alligators. If you go to the Hill Country lakes or lakes farther from the coast in East Texas, alligators aren't a problem.

yeah somewhere around 86'-87' she was killed off hunter road... . (just got a history lesson from the stepdad, he's lived in the area forever)
