I bought one in TX week before last, got it for $4k under KBB--the way I dialed it in--2K under what they considered KBB.



And it was a 2k with 47k.



The dealer (Lone Star Imports, Dallas) was very accurate in describing the vehicle-but you can't know until you get there(700 miles) and there was nothing to hide.



Call the dealer and quiz 'em on it.

I think i know why. Lately there has been quite a few groups of people that unplug the odometer. yes, i couldn't believe it. so if it has had a hitch in it i would speculate that was it.

But if the odometer was unplugged the ECM still records the milage so it can be checked. As far as the price, 115,000 miles on a 2001 and it's only 2 wheel drive, doesn't sound that low to me.

I dunno... If that dealer, Magic Imports, is selling the truck for $18500, they must have bought it super cheap from the previous owner. Why would the previous owner sell such a nice (appearing) truck for so little? In fact, why would they get rid of it at all?

I had once almost purchased a 2500 CTD from a dealer like that, and I inquired about the previous owner, and they readily gave me his phone # to call and talk to (I don't know if that is typical, probly not). The old owner told me that he ran it hard, and would not recommend buying it!! Just something to think about... Maybe this dealer would do the same?

I paid $31,500 for my truck brand new off lot with 240 miles on it (all from one Stealer to the local Dealer).



I wouldn't guess that a 2wd dually is going to be much more than that. Then you have to figure at least $12k depreciation in value because of mileage and it's an 01.



It's sure nothing I'd jump atOo.

My '99 went off the lot a just a tic under $29K.

RWD 3500 Sport, loaded with everything exept leather. Dealer threw in the "Undercoat" and "Paint Sealant" for free.

Had 36 miles on it when I took delivery in August of 2000.

KBB says $22,830 and NADA says $23,075 for average retail, when I bought my truck it was $8,500 under KBB, Why? Because the dealer had it for a couple of months, I talked with the previous owner that had no problems with it but instead traded it in because the registration fee went from $300 to $1300 because of truck weight. He went to a 3/4 ton. The truck only had 24,000 miles when I bought it, 115,000 miles takes $4500 off of book value, to me it might take more than that off. Book value doesn't always mean much, I had a Ford Tempo beater car in excellent shape and KBB said it was worth $4000, I had all I could do to give it away. There are alot around here and they go cheap.

The miles

You cannot sell a truck in Texas for what KBB says. It is just not the market value. The price is right on the money for the miles. I really doubt that the odometer was unplugged and it still racked up 115k in a couple years max. I figure my 2001 with 35k is only worth about 21-22k so with that many miles on it 18. 5 sounds right. I am not a car dealer, I just try and keep up with prices and the 18. 5 is about right for the miles. It would not bring much more than that if was perfect.



Food for thought.

A friend of mine was on the Pro Rodeo circut untill 2yrs ago when he got cancer. He bought a new Dodge dually every year from 1990-2001, he never sold one with less than 100k on it, he took a big hit on mileage with every trade in. He figured 100k on a nice clean 1year old truck knocked about $10k off the price from new.

truck priced at top book, + by the time you pay

the other fees, you are paying more than it is

worth. I declined my offer on their truck.
