Just did this----thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*EDIT* Just FYI for those who may not know---Diehard Platinum (gray case) is IDENTICAL to an Odyssey battery. Enersys/Odyssey makes the Platinum line for Sears.

Per email confirmation from Enersys, the only difference is the color of the case. Internally it is an Odyssey battery.

Good find, good post... even better, since our trucks need two, and until Feb 02, get an additional $35 off by using promo AUTO35 for an extra 10% off of $350 up orders.

That makes the Platinums only $158. 50 each Oo. Oo. , which is almost as low as I have ever seen them. Prices good only online, so buy online and pick-upat local store, or perhaps get free shipping.

FYI-- these deals usually last LESS then 24 hours !!!

PPS--when you pick them up, be sure to get two with MATCHING date codes.

The batteries are Costco. 1000 cranking amps at 32*, 850 cold cranking amps. both batteries have date of 10/22. be sure to match the construction dates. price was $226 out the door for both.

What are all these expensive batteries capable of doing that the $80/each OEM replacements that I got from the local dealer can't do?

Nothing for me. I'm still using the original batteries that will be 10 years old next month. It doesn't get severely cold here and I always park inside a heated building, and the truck is not a daily driver. The $80 dealer replacements will do for me and it's doubtful I'll keep my truck long enough for the expensive battery warranty to expire.

I wish they still sold there own brand again, and not the interstate... ... . I might go with the sears batteries next time

OMG just checked and those are the original batteries in my truck, -- had it for two years now. Only reason I checked is that for the past few cold mornings, high 20's, I wondered if there was less oomph than I am used to, very subtle and not convinced that anything abnormal had happened, but the thought prompted me to check on the age of my batteries. Until now, I have never experienced a 10 year old battery. I am impressed but wonder if I should not just go ahead and replace them. they seemed peppy enough yesterday and this morning. No other symptoms.

The oem batteries in our trucks have seemed to last a REALLY lomg time for many people. While yours may or may not be at the end of their life, you may as well load check them and also, if they are not a sealed battrey case, check the fluid with a battery hygrometer. BOTH those tests will give you all the nifo you need to know as to whetehr or not they need to be replaced. Of course, while load testing them, test them INDIVIDUALLY. Of course, be careful not to short anything out while disconnecting and reconnecting the batteries.

Thanks. these are sealed with the sight glass still showing OK. Think I will load test them. Anything not looking solid will result in replacing them. I try to not mess around with a questionable battery, too many not good ripple effects.

My OEM batteries will turn 10 in just a few weeks. For the past 2 or 3 years the little "green eye" is completely absent from both batteries all winter. It comes back during the warm weather months. Even though I have the new Die Hards I'm planning to keep these OEMs in service until spring, so we'll see if they have another winter left in them.

Sears are good,

If you can not get them on sale, I go with Costco. They are both made by Johnson controls, (as are interstate), very similar.

All very good.

What Costco battery works in our trucks. I looked in their fitment guide and it shows nothing for these trucks.

Thank you seafish. Needed a quick answer so I could get ready for the road for a month. No shopping time left.

It should also be listed as a fitment code 4, Costco number 12866.

Thanks. Went into Costco yesterday and there sat two with that exact description with 11/13 as mfg date. Hot off the lines:) Good price too. Took out those 10 year old originals and the new ones start the truck like a @2 dollar pistol on Saturday night.:)
