    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) EZ, DDII, and Automatics. Controlling EGT's?

I have that exact setup, except I have a DTT transmission. I recently pulled a 30' gooseneck flatbed up to Colorado, total weight probably close to 5K, so not very heavy, just long. As for EGT's, pulling the trailer in the normal flat lands at lower altitude, I rarely go over 1,100 degrees and 30lbs...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Auxilary Fuel Tank Switch

Since I originaly started this thread, I have bought and installed a tank in my bed. It's a 90 gallon tank/toolbox with external electric pump and house for filling tractors, etc. I also had fittings welded on so that I could plumb it into my truck. I used a NAPA 6 way electric fuel switch and...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Auxilary Fuel Tank Switch

What you guys are doing certainly works good and sounds like the easy way of utilizing an auxilary tank, BUT I wish to keep my fuel seperate. There will be times I have red off road diesel in my auxilary tank, I don't want any of the red diesel in my main tank just in case I'm ever checked by...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Auxilary Fuel Tank Switch

I want to keep the fuel seperate. That would be an easy way to do it, but there may be times I have off road diesel in my auxilary tank and I don't want that in my main tank. I want to ability to choose which tank I'm burning from.

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Auxilary Fuel Tank Switch

I've been thinking of installing a auxilary fuel tank in the bed of my truck. My local Atwoods has a descent looking one with built in toolbox. It isn't designed to be an auxilary tank, but a transfer tank with pump for equipment. I want that feature too, as I have tractors and things that burn...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 4 inch exhaust.......benefits ?

I don't see how backpressure on a turbo diesel can be of any good, so a 4"or bigger exhaust can't do anything but help. At the lower power levels you may not see any gain in performance, but it will help with exhaust temps and help the turbo spool faster.

Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Noise filter for transmission problem any help appreciated

Mine did this about a month ago. I followed Bills (DTT) advice to clean ALL the ground on the truck and mines been fine every since. ALL grounds need removed and cleaned on BOTH ends. This includes body and engine grounds. Also add a ground strap to the PCM on the passenger side firewall if it...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Happi Box

I thought about getting one, but fixed the problem without it. I had eratic torque convertor locking a while back. I called Bill at DTT (I have a DTT transmission). He told me that it's caused by noise in the wiring and it's usually a bad ground. I cleaned EVERY ground on the truck. This means clean...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) How much can a auto handle

Everyone says the Dodge autos won't hold much more power then stock. I tend to agree if we are talking being able to handle the extra power, tow, and live a long happy life. I didn't wait to see what would happen, I got the full DTT treatment done to mine. BUT. My brother is thinking about...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Edge e-z adjustments

I'm certainly no transmission expert, but I've been told by an expert that our trasmission 3rd to 4th shift in completely controlled by the ECM, as is lockup of the convertor in 3rd or 4th gear. However all other shifts are done with tradition methods in the transmission, using line pressure's...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Edge e-z adjustments

Well I called Edge's tech support and got that information. As I said above he told me putting a jumper on pins 1 AND 3 disables the timing, but he didn't know what fuel setting that translated too. It would be good information to have, but I would like to KNOW more about what that setting...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Edge e-z adjustments

I called Edge Tech Support last week. I was told that putting a jumper on pin 1 and 3 would DISABLE the timing advance and just do fuel. However the tech did not know what fuel level the 1 - 3 combo translated to (ie 1, 2, or 3 level in that position). I would be curious to know what fuel level...

Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Are we just adding "sand to our oil"????

While I agree with the fact that adding a "little" more power probably doesn't significantly lower the life of our engines, I think a "lot" more power will. We know these engines are built to put out close to 300HP continous power levels for long period of time (the life of the engine), as...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Burned up my engine today

I really don't know that much about Diesel engines, but I know a little about gasoline engines. In gas engines you would never want a bigger piston then the rest. In fact for a well balanced smooth engine, you want all the pistons to weigh actually the same and be the same size. The weight...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Burned up my engine today

With all this talk about engine failures and screwed up #6 pistons, I figured I better tell my story too. My 98. 5 3500 auto with 136,000 miles was towing a 7,000lb travel trailer. At the time the ONLY modification to the truck was a Edge EZ set on the 3rd setting and a boost elbow...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Stock Slush Box

I would think that mating the new Allison or other transimission to the Cummings wouldn't be the hardest part. Getting all the eletronics and computer required to control the transmission would probably be the greatest challenge.

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) MAP/IAT Mounts

I guess I could pull the connector and look for myself, but I wonder if those connectors are the same? I mean could a person make a mistake and plug his Edge EZ into the IAT sensor instead of the MAP? If that's possible, I wonder what kind of damage could result? The ECM would still see the...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 4 wheel drive

This brings up some interesting points and questions about our 4x4 truck and their transfer case operation. Let me start by saying I don't have an owners manual for my truck, it didn't come with one. So I'm not sure what Dodge say's is the proper way to shift MY truck into and...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Rut Ro.........truck died, check engine light came on

The codes will tell you what is wrong or at least what the computer saw out of spec and probably caused it.

Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Swapping an Auto Engine out for a Manual one?

Well I got my salvage engine in and it is a 98. 5 Manual 24v Engine. So now I REALLY need to know if it's OK to use the Manual engine ECM that's on it or do I have to swap out the ECM off my Auto engine? The engine is rated at 235 HP versus my 215 HP auto, is this due to the ECM differences...
