Dan, I put the 440/375 purple shaft resto cam in the 400 I built for my road runner and went into my D350, and that engine ran very well!

Yes, that was the cam I initially put in the engine during the restoration. I like the sound and performance the the street hemi cam. Maybe some day I'll install the resto cam in something else. I coated it good, boxed it up and put the lifters in the box the way they came out....hopefully rust doesn't' find them.

Friends,

I went by today and discussed what we're doing. Motor is in outstanding condition, the heads came back all ready to put back on. He said he'd be happy to do anything I wanted with the truck, and made my final choice, keep as much as like she was when she rolled off the showroom floor. Motor and AC should be done next week.

I really appreciate ya'll's suggestions, and if y'all were down here, we might would have done all those upgrades. But, I think shes going to be fine and more fun to be all fixed up.

I'll post pics when I get her back.

Cheers, Ron

Glad to hear heads are ready to be installed the sooner the better before anymore bright idea's come along and sink the poor Lil Red Express truck sure like to hear that quiet exhaust crackly again.

Went by today...engine all done... they redid the valves and say it's nice and tight. Now they are working on AC, the system had been compromised and there was corrosion inside the system... likely going to replace all lines and components. Precious Wife was waiting in the truck, so didn't stay to startup and check it out.

Cheers, Ron

Wow, AC lines with corrosion inside replace all the lines and condenser, hi and low ports, the compressor, this going to take week or more getting parts then installation, testing I wonder what they will use for the new safe the earth stuff R-134a, R 123 or ? Well keep us posted!:(:cool:

My buddy is at York Dodge getting his truck serviced, and this LRE is on display.

Hi Homer,

Pretty much the whole system is requiring replacement, which is expensive and time consuming. While testing the system, the heater core started leaking and the starter failed. Current total cost is $6800 and another 3 to 4 weeks waiting for parts. It's just money, right?

Cheers, Ron
