Cab corner reinforcing

I'm swapping cabs and I figure it would be a great time to reinforce the cab corners while the front sheetmetal is off. I have an old TDR magazine that has some good pics, my question is do I have to rivet and silicone these or can I just weld them on. I understand they don't make the Dodge ones anymore so I'd be making my own. Thanks
