Yes I have a chip in my TDI, bumps the performance up a lot. The tuning boxes aren't as good because they dont increase boost. The chip increases fueling and the boost maps for the TDI. Still barely smokes at all under WOT. Sure you could go to bigger injectors, larger pump, etc, etc, but my TDI is actually for sale. Selling it to get my CTD!!!!

Well, I smoked a PSD today,, I probly shouldn't have, but oh well.



I was doing about 45MPH, and this PowerStroke nearly pulled out in front of me, he hit his brakes hard to keep from rolling out, and right when I went by I went WOT, and gave him a good whisp of smoke, I meant for the truck to downshift, and give him some niose, but it just lugged ands rolled a fair amount of smoke out. He pulled out right behind me, and HE drove through the smoke. I made about a 75' long 25' high cloud of smoke, not pitch black, just a fog.



I've smoked out a few other people also, including my Mom, and girlfriend, but that was for pokes and goggles.



Smoked out a bunch of people at the dragstrip last night too.

Our DragStrip is a bit different than others, in such a way, that, you can stand just to the right, and rear of the vehicle in the right lane, and watch them run down the track, well, I lined up in the right lane (I prefer the left for this reason), staged, and put the RPM to 1,500 and when the 2nd Yellow lit, I was off,, well, when I came back around and was going to run again, my friends all had huge smiles on their face, I was like ???, one guy came over and said there were about 20-30 people watching me stage, and when I left the line,, I just poured foggy smoke on everybody, and people were turning and coughing. WHOOPS



I ran a 15. 155@89. 9 on that run, with a 2. 2 60'.

HoleshotHolset, your td should only show a tiny hint of smoke at WOT. If it smokes more than that, something's up. BTW, have you checked your snowscreen? PM me, there are a lot of little TDI maintenance things I can help ya with.

LightmanE300: My TDI has Bosio PowerPlus "502" injectors in it from "KermaTDI"... . and it runs just fine.



If it didn't smoke... . I'd be worried.



My snowscreen is in the basement... . along with all the other non-essential emissions/performance degrading doo-dads. :-laf

Nice on the pp520s! I slashed my snowscreen too. What does your car have to address the EGR and CCV?

This past Sunday the wife and I went to a local truck show.

I was hoping there would be other diesel gear heads there.

After walking around for 1/2 hr. I realized I was surronded by trailer queens,gassers,and or beaters! That is with the exception of my friend brian who wound up at the show by accident.

This was no truck show, at least not in my book. Real trucks don't have spark plugs. We lasted about 2 hrs. , and decided we had enough. As I pulled out of the show I made sure the drag comp.

was on 5x5, the wind was just right as I made the right turn to go past the show. I eased out slowly but just couldn't help myself, as my wife started laughing knowing what was coming.

I floored it , being that it was 90 degrees out didn't help that 40 spool any faster, by the time I hit second gear you couldn't see anything. As I looked in the mirror I saw people running out into the street , I don't know if it was to get out of the smoke, or to see what the hell caused it ? Either way, the wife and I laughed for the next 10 miles.

It wasn't a bad show after all !

LightmanE300: I put in the dieselgeek 'racepipe' and plugged off the EGR solenoid vacuum hose connections. When I get around to it... . the EGR heat exchanger is taking a hike too.



I did the 'elephant nose/trunk' CCV mod (~4' piece of heater hose... )..... haven't had any problems with it freezing or getting caught on anything.

Nice work on the race pipe and elephant hose mod. I know of 5 people personally who've had them freeze up, be very careful, one blew out a bunch of his seals. I have an elephant hose on mine, but not too worried about freezing in Sarasota



I dont want to get this thread too far off topic, the smoke stories are sweet. HH email/pm me if you have a check engine light from the race pipe, I can tell you how to get rid of it if you haven't.

So I'm out in the middle of nowhere FL. Long, straight, and flat two-lane road through a state forest with no traffic. I got bored after a while and dialed up 5x5 and hammered it just to watch the EGT gauge on a sustained high-speed run. So I slowed to about 50, left a few puffs and ran up over 100 for a mile or two, and just after I lifted up pops this bright orange sign:



REDUCE

SMOKE

SPEED



Me and the GF were all :--) ?!



How'd they know I was coming? I looked for the CTD welcome party, but alas it was State Foresters doing a controlled burn.



If I had my camera, we would have one SUPER photo.

Never thought I would post here...

but it happened this morning. I was on the way to work running 70 (speed limit) and a log truck pulls out if front of me. I had to slow to 35 pretty quickly to keep the logs out of my windshield. He is steady working through the gears on the Pete and gaining a little speed. I could not pass right away because of on coming traffic.



On coming traffic freed up and permitted me to pass. By this time, there is a older model Chevy on my tail too. I was in 4th. Pulled out to pass and put the hammer down to the floor. About the time I got even with the front of the Pete, I glanced at the tach showing 2600+ and climbing quick, so I hit 5th (5 speed transmission) and put the go-pedal back on the floor. Glanced in the rear-view, and WOW what a cloud of pretty BLACK smoke! I felt really bad when I saw the old chevy emerging from the smoke as he was passing behind me.



Note: I was not trying to smoke anyone! I was just trying to get around the freshly loaded log truck that was blowing dirt and pine bark all over my truck. I meant no harm. I also don't go around trying to smoke people. It is not my style.



I never realized that I could do so much smoke with just an EZ! All I had gotten up to now was just some good puffs.

A story with a twist:

I was running through Nebraska with a fifth wheel that was to be delivered in Reno. In my mirror I see a tough looking first gen passing me but they slowed when they were next to me. I am wondering what their problem is when they speed back up. When they barely get in front of me they slow up and start over in my lane. I knew what was about to happen, big black cloud to brighten(darken) my day.



Finally somebody that got the Show-Me Smokers decal.

Ever been to California? After getting rid of the trailer in Reno, we headed for Auburn, CA. I was in the state no more than 10 miles when I stepped in it to get up to speed and as usual a heavy haze came out. Shortly later had a guy in a Subrau giving me dirty looks and was trying to get my tag number off the front of the truck. Wonder what he would have done if the FMS was on Kill.

Showed a friend some real power

I have a friend who is kind of a dyed in the wool Neon guy, but He has always liked my truck. Last week when I was visiting him. He needed to go shopping and we decided to send the GF's to Walmart while we stopped at Napa for some parts. So we took his Neon, which is a little souped up and pretty quick, we drop off the girls at Walmart, pick up the parts at Napa, go back to Walmart find the girls. They're filling up two shopping carts, so I say "Let's go back to your place and pick up my truck and I'll let you drive so you can feel some "real" power. We get back to the house and the phone rings, the girls are in the check out line. We take off in the truck with him driving and at first he revs up to let out the clutch and keeps barking the tires. We get to cruising on the road and all of the sudden he puts his foot into it and the truck throws us back into the seats and he :--) turns to me and says "holy s*&%, dude". I just smile real big and think "Oh yeah!!" then I say the truck is all stock.

NEON



I drove over a Neon back in April with my 95 Ram. Flattened the front end of the Neon right on the ground and only scratched the paint on the truck's running board and hub cap. Unfortunately it threw me into a slide and slid into a 12" pole, breaking it off and totaling the truck. But the Neon itself hardly phased the truck. I don't think I'd want to be in a Neon.

I know there was no smoke but during my time in Denver I wished I could have smoked about two dozen people there. Someday I will with some DD2's and a Comp. Then a clutch, exhaust, turbo you know how the list goes on.

When I was leaving the fairgrounds Sat. night I was trying not to smoke the trucks in line behind me (the DTT, Comp and DD3s were still new to me). The guy behind me was trying to motivate me to get going so, I believe much to his surprise, ... I did

It sure was fun driving around on 5x5 all weekend!



Around town here (rural and metro Detroit), a little puff, even accidental, seems to scare people off my tail end. It is kind of disappointing that nobody has earned a decent smoking



I also can't seem to coax anybody into a good old fashioned street race. I think that the sixpack of gauges scares them off. Maybe I need to move???



I can't smoke like the pros in this crowd, but I can put out a decent fog. I just wish that I could use it to a deserved 1d10t sometime. I don't necessarily look for opportunities and I suppose if I tried to get everybody that does something annoying I would have to install an auxiliary fuel tank :-laf :-laf :-laf
