I just got back from the dealer getting my first oil change, (I normally change my own oil but the first one was free), while there I had them do the TSB reflash and turn on the idle feature. The Tech told me that the TSB reflash was to make the regen cycle run longer, to do a better burn-off of the soot accumulation in the DPF.

I when to my local dealer today to get the new flash but they will not do it under warranty. they say my truck has idled more than 5% of the time so dodge will not pay, dose anyone know of a good dealer in GA to do my service work.

Anyone else think this is ridiculous?

Look at the math: 5%? That's 3 minutes of traffic-light time in an hour of driving. (Any body ever try to get through Kent, Washington's industrial area?)

This could easily be encountered anywhere in the country except out on the open road! How many do nothing but that sort of driving on a daily basis?

And they are refusing to do the flash that is intended to help with regen problems?

The "active" regen is INTENDED to rid the system of soot that is accumulated when the operating conditions don't accomplish "passive" regen. And it can't handle even this small percentage of no-regen soot accumulation?

If this turns out to be a real "standard": measure of warranty-worthiness, D/C should be deluged with owner protests!

I'd really like to hear some other opinions on this.

I haven't received the current owner's manual yet,... does it make this a condition of warranty,... and if so, in what words? I question whether they can make arbitrary changes in "cancellation" terms that they have not stated at time of purchase.

My truck has 4500 miles and has idled 17% of the time. I live in atlanta GA we have some of the worst traffic in the u. s.

A search on my posts will help explain Idle Time and my dealers attempt to blame me for the soot accumulation. The area rep signed off on paying for my 1st visit and the De-sooting drive time spent on my truck. the re-flash addresses the idle time issue and the TSB allocates dealer payment for the De-Soot Drive. I see that as an acknowledgement of Chrysler's responsibility.

Atleast until all the software rev's are completed, then failure to preform required maintainance could void the 50,000 mile warranty.

Attention Everyone

DC has announced that the following will be exactly followed:

TSB 2007 Full of Crap

(1) Work time 7am-4pm

(2) Vacation time 3 days per week once a year

(3) Time in Crapper (when necessary)

(4) De-Soot time every ten minutes per instructions at time of purchase.

#@$%!CUMMINZ#@$%!

Hahah I would tell them a few choice words if I was told that. They cant expect people to change an average persons daily driving routine to get regens. If thats the case it should be stated before you buy it. "sign here stating that you know you cant idle 5% of the time in traffic, you have to shut your engine off at every light or when ever you stop". "oh and by the way new starters are only $1499 and they last about a year"

Normaly, I don't dog the dealers, but I would drop the ******* you use for service if thats there attitude.

Steve...

I just heard from my friend who had the "treatment" done on his D3500 SRW 68rfe Monday.
Since then he drove unloaded to Atlanta and back to Seneca, SC. Today he left for Waynesville, NC pulling his 14K fiver. They went up 441 through Franklin which is a pretty tough 100 miles. He said according to his GPS they averaged 47 mph. Needless to say break in is over for his truck
First he wanted me to thank whoever stole his 2003 3500 HO 48re! Seriously though he was plenty excited about the performance of the E brake. He said once he topped the mountains and started down the 7% slope the truck maintained 40-45 in 3rd gear without any effort. He said he applied the brake once going into a right angle curve to slow to the 35mph posted speed. He also was impressed with the way it backed into his regular spot at Moonshine Creek compared to the 48re.
He finally mentioned that he had passed an F350 pulling a TT going up the mountain! As powerful as the truck is that was third on his list of impressive features, but that the truck pulled much better than the HO up the mountain.
He has to drive back to Atlanta Sunday so he will get in some more unloaded miles then. He is pretty confident his regen problem has been solved though. Hopefully he will post a full report when he gets off vacation with fuel mileage results in a couple of weeks.

I got my truck back yesterday shortly before noon and was immediately dispatched on a 340 mile run to pick up a load and bring it back to a company in Victoria, Tx. I made another run to a rig on the way up there and brought the load back without the truck missing a beat. Looks like the throttle control valve was my problem from the start. Until it completely failed and set a code I guess there was no way to find it. Once the problem was found and the valve replaced the truck is back to normal. I never had a problem with the DPF until the first dealer tried to put in a program that should not have been put in and wiped out the computers memory and stopped the regens all together. Then I got plugged up pretty quick. The second dealer got the computer back right and got the DPF cleared and the valve replaced. Looks like I'm fixed. Time will tell, right now, I'm back to running and that's the way I like it.

By the way, the tech where I got my truck fixed agreed with what RVTRKN said in an earlier post. There is no reflash at the present time for the Cab and Chassis. What the first dealer tried to do was put a pickup flash in my truck and it wouldn't take and just screwed it up, messed up the memory and it wouldn't regen at all.

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear all that actually, I pick up my C&C Saturday... . Lot of info flying around so it's nice to have that update. Thanks for keeping us all posted.

I have never had a problem with a throttle valve on my 03, so I don't know if this is the same as what you have had problems with in the past, it is a new problem to me. The part # was 68027034AB valve and part # 68005256AA gasket-throttle body. That is what they put on the truck and it has apparently fixed it. I've gone nearly 1000 miles since the repair with no problems.

Throttle valve??? Don't tell me we are using those on the new engines? How long they have the rig EB?

Re - Re-flash

2007. 5 4WD 2500 Quad cab w/ 6. 7

I had about 1000 miles on this new truck when the check engine warning went off. The overhead console said that the converter was 100% full. The dealer did the reflash and changed the sensor. Now after about 300 miles, the check engine warning is on again. This truck is driven primarily on the interstate - the hand figured mileage for the last tank was 18. 5 mpg. The truck runs great, no smoke and great power.

What is going on? Do you TDR guys think this is an indication problem? I will take it back to the dealer this week, but I'm not sure what he is going to do after reading all of these posts.

I'm upset after spending so much on this truck. Any help would be appreciated.

I heard from my friend again today. He got 8. 8 hand calculated on the pull through the Smokies. When he called today he had run 4 hours unloaded from Waynesville, NC to Atlanta and was headed back. His GPS said he was averaging 71 mph with a top speed of 87 mph. His overhead said he was averaging 18. 5 mpg. I won't know the hand calc until next weekend.
He said the truck was running beautifully and was still raving about the E brake and 68rfe.
He said his only disappointment on the trip was seeing a Ford with a fiver broken down on the I and not having time to stop and offer to tow the fiver in to Atlanta for him.
He also told me to remember 81/21. 81 mph equals 2100 rpm with the 3. 73 and he said again he wouldn't have a 4. 10.
