she seems to be turnung into a girl... . you know... on her time not ours... lol. well her's the problem: when she cold or pluged in she'll start with no problem. the problem is when i run her and get her warmed up and then shut her down she won't start within like a hour. i wait for the the "wait to start" light to go out then i turn the key. nothing the radio goes out like it's drawling power and the gauges do the same but not cranking. now if i wait 1 or 2 hours and try to start her again she'll start right up, like nothing is wrong. it's stumped us all any suggestions?? please help i keep getting stuck at the fire house when our calls get recalled. thanks again for the help.

Just a hunch but it sounds like your starter contacts might be worn. Do you hear a "click" from the starter when you turn the key?

Check your battery post connections and the cables themselves for corrosion/good tight connections. I switched mine over to the semi tractor type screw post for just that reason. One night after work mine did the same thing, it was a loose cable in the neg. battery connector.

**** me off in the rain

Yep, mine did the same thing in the pouring rain just after filling up with fuel. There was another guy behind me waiting for the pump too. I jump in turn the key and CLICK. Everything is dead. Ok now I look like a goof pushing my shiny red CTD off the pad into a parking space. Screw around for a while under the hood checking everything for tightness, while getting rained on. Jump back in the cab, and CLICK. Insert a few censored words here... ... ... ... . I call my buddy to give me a jump start and CLICK. More choice words are used at this time. We finally come to the brilliant idea to more closely examine the negative battery cable. I bypass the ground cable with a jumper cable to the frame and zing off she goes. The easiest way to fix this gremlin is to strip about an inch of insulation from the neg. battery cable, trim the old corroded strands off and remount the cable to the terminal on the battery.

I had a problem similar to this on my tractor. I had checked the battery clamps and got them cleaned up. I went through every thing that had a ground and could not figure it out. After forgetting the problem for a while, I came across a new ground cable in my garage. I put it on and she started right up. I did an autopsy on the old cable and it had corroded inside the insulation for about 5 or 6 inches back from the clamp.

well guys after she left me stranded at work, i decided to play around for a couple minutes whill i waited for my dad. check all the clamps all the connections, clamps where a little loose but they have been that way for a long time. i tighted them cleaned them nothing. nexted day i borrowed my mom's car went to work after work truck started right up. ok driving home, after i brought my dad back to get the car, get a fire call go to the fire house shut the truck off then curse myself because dad has my gear and i know she won't start. well i ened up taking the starter off at the fire house (lots of bad words where said during that process). get it rebult come to find out no brushes none. i wasn't missing some i had none. the guy was ammazed it would even start. so 160$ latter she back on the road.

thanks for the help
