I am trying to get some low end power out of a 97 3500 5speed. It has a #11 plate that is all the way forward and the light AFC spring with star wheel all the way forward and have replaced the fuel return valve. Once the engine builds boost it will run like a scalded dog. Just can't seem to get the low end where I need it. The truck leaves a good cloud but just will not put me back in the seat like others I have been in.

Thanks for any Ideas

I think he already moved the starwheel, according to his post. Plates will generally give more mid and top end power. Not so much added on the low end. Have the other trucks you have ridden in had non-stock injectors? Adding 370s increased the low end power of my truck tremendously.

When you put in the light AFC spring, and tightened the diaphram spring, it is possible to put the shaft in a bind so it will not move.

If it is binding, DO NOT sand the shaft:eek: . I have found that with the AFC in your hand, you can tap the arm with the plastic handle of a screwdriver and the shaft will move freely.

Make sure you can move the arm after you torque the nut. If the arm does not move, no low end power.

I would check the lever adjustment that Piers has on his web sight. The lever on some plate profile are more prone to get stuck under the edge of the plate and when the lever finally gets free there is the missing power. This may not be exactly correct but I think that is the reason. I adjusted mine and that made a huge difference in low in torque. Also you can increase the prefuel adjustment on the back of the pump. Set the timing to 15. 5
