OEM Battery

Seems to be some confusion on another diesel forum, that the OEM Ram batteries are NOT AGM, what is the take here on this forum . I still have the OEM in my 2014, but see nothing that tells me one way or the other .

The two I replaced in my 15 were lead acid. I did opt for AGM replacements.

I was under the impression they were AGM, but haven't bothered to remove the battery blankets on my 15 yet to verify. I also thought it said something in the manual about them being AGM, not 100% sure though.

Probably just an issue of semantics more than misunderstanding....but AGM's are lead acid too.

Thanks . I use AGM for my electric motor on my inflatable pontoon boat, and had to buy a charger that had the AGM charge mode, so I would think it would make a difference what battery you replace the OEM's with. I will check my manual to see if there is something about it.

Really only makes a difference for maintenance chargers. Float voltage is different.

Thanks. When I researched replacement batteries for my 2014 is seemed they were all AGM's. I have a Schumacher charger that I bought to charge my AGM boat battery on the AGM mode ,and just assumed it made a difference with trucks as far as charging went. So it sounds like whatever battery is okay.

My Son had a low battery message show up. He replaced the batteries and now his touch screen is blank. He looked at the regular fuses, what should he look for to resolve this?

try disconnecting both batteries for about 10 min. While you have them disconnected double check the terminals for corrosion.

My Son already checked and replaced the fuse with no luck thats along the cowl.

Only fuse he has found blow is the trailer tow, took the sunroof fuse and it was then fine.

ONLY thing that is not working is the touch screen.

His is a 2015 Limited.

If it can be tipped over and doesn't leak - it's AGM.
If it leaks - then it isn't.

Typically the Optimas are AGM.

What if you hold the temp up and temp down buttons at the same time? That should get you into the engineering menu. Maybe by just doing that you can get the screen to come on? Then select the "reset radio".

you can reset the radio by pressing the mute and browse/enter together and hold for several seconds...I was told to do this once by the uconnect help desk when I had an issue. It will reboot the radio and not loose any settings.

Replaced the original batteries in My 2013 2500 CTD this summer. Batteries from the factory were flooded cell lead acid. I bought East Penn AGMs for replacement thinking the factory batteries were AGM. Now I’m AGM Strong.
