Okay, then lets get back to the OP's problem. Does all this stuff you are saying going to help the OP's problem. Just curious.

I have had that issue a couple times, I do just the opposite , I keep the DEF on the low side. Whether its true or not, it seems to work not triggering a systems check. Have not had the warning since I have been running the DEF to the red mark, and then adding only 2.5 gallons.

2014, that practice works for almost ALL, its certain conditions that it will cause a problem, You eliminate ALMOST! all DEF problem(s) by keeping the Tank FULL and NOT allowing it to drop below half.

I have lost count on how many times owners had to come here on the week/weekend to have Me reset the DEF levels (VIA WITECH) to remove the warning message, that is eliminated at 1/2 tank fillings to full.

Conversely.........I fill mine to the brim and run it down to xx miles to 5 mph de-rate without any issues. It worked great on my 2014 3500 and is working great on my 2018 4500.

Can’t understand filling fresh DEF straight behind “older” DEF......when one can run it low, refill completely, and call it good.

For those that only drive 3k to 4 k a year......different story.

Towing I run mine to where the warning comes on and either add two 2.5's or fill at the pumps. Local driving for a while I stay under the 1/2 mark and add 2.5 when alarm rings. so far 100% reliable at 68k.

DEF if stored correctly can last Years 5+, I been manufacturing Products with Urea for 35 Years, know its property's well possibly better than any company producing DEF.....

DEF prices will continue to drop, We can manufacture it for $0.75 PG add the Ride and handling another $0.50- 0.75. retail Pump price at $2.00-$2.40 is fair pricing this $2.75+ Pumped IMO is to High and will be coming down its getting More competitive. Localized competition plays a big role in pricing.

By the way Trucks Stop's like J and Travel need to charge $3.00 for DEF those parking lots cost Serious $$$$.
the cost at the Pump for many Large Fleets pay less than Advertised Pumped rates.

API Program is voluntary, and is only needed for API Cert/Comp.

Urea deposits change uniformity , unless you stick a stiffer up the pipe you have NO idea of the efficiency.

Have you ever heard of some trucks using considerably less DEF, pull the DEF injector to find its 50%+ plugged and the mesh of the Urea chamber caked with deposit...How many years or miles have the NOx levels equal none SCR levels?

My trucks gets about 10K a year on it, and I would fill the DEF at about half tank, and started getting the messages , went on some advice here as said, down to to the red line, and then 2.5 gallons at a time, no more check engine lights or messages.

As you say, I pretty much run fresh DEF all the time. Not a problem for me with my mileage at 2.5 gallons at a time. I have no problem finding the Peak Blue DEF that is no more then a couple months old.
