Yes, that is the price for 5w 40. Haven't seen 15w 40 for that price

A quick search shows T6 15w40 at Wally World for $21.99/gallon.

Not that I'm one to stretch it, but this proves oil doesn't go bad. I watch this guy all the way and he is extremely thorough.

Unused oil is much different than used oil. As soon as oil is put into use it starts to get depleted. Even if you just fire it up to circulate it and then shut it off the TBN is depleted.

There is a lot that goes into oil life. Oil that gets used once a month for 5 miles likes lives a harder life than oil that gets used once a month for 50 miles. The oil used for 50 miles at a time will last longer.

Any oil will go 12 month without issue. Mileage is what breaks it down.

Agreed, mostly. Time does break oil down but I've yet to see it happen in a year. I grew up on a farm and
all of the equipment that didn't get used heavy was changed annually. Almost all of those tractors are still on the job today, some well over 40 years old. This was 25 years ago and oil has come a long ways since. All of our low usage cranes at work have also been on annual intervals as long as I've been around, dating back to the early CJ4 days. All on cheap fleet spec Shell Rimula (now T3) oil. Some on here likely recall mocking me for following suit on annual changes when I got into my 14, but I did so with a pretty good bit of history behind me. Conventional oil is more than adequate, ambient temps allowing.

I guess I can see your point. Either way, on any of my personal engines I change it regardless if it still has life left or not. Oil it alot cheaper than an engine overhaul.

That MOPAR filter shown above is NOT a StrataPore. Couple bucks more StrataPore , Donaldson Blue or re branded AMZ/OIL filters are far superior.
So by using a superior oil and filter I might get 1,000,001 miles instead of 1,000,000 miles. Gezz in 1,000,000 miles I saved enough money on less superior but more than adequate oil and filters to buy a whole new truck.

They offer some Group III oils, but most are Group IV.
Yes but the catch is what percentage group iv verses group iii oils in those so called group iv oils touted as full synthetic. A blend is still a blend no matter what anyone says. For all we know those so called amsoil full synthetic group iv oils could be blended with group ii or i oils.

Buy what you want. Just stating facts.

Umm, they don’t have blends. They have Group III oils and Group IV is separate bottles.

A blend is only a blend of it’s a blend....

And to think, the engine won't care one bit what name brand the oil is. long as it's designed for a diesel, and is the correct grade for the climate the engine lives at.
with over 300K on my current engine, almost 300K on my 08, and well over 400K on my 12V, the 100's of $'s spent on oil analyses, all said the same thing, oil brand does not matter.
Maybe if your racing, it might play a role, maybe, but not likely. my race Honda engines still only call for conventional 10w-30 in cold weather and 10w-40 in normal operating conditions. long as it's changed when it should be. It really doesn't matter.

All PAO and Ester synthetic oils have a group i or group ii or group iii or a combination of to help hold the additive package in suspension. In other words there isn't a pure 100% synthetic oil for automotive use that I'm aware of. So yes, in my book they are all blends.

I agree and when you get to be an elder man like me you'll look back and think to yourself "look at all that money I wasted on oil analysis and high priced oil and filters", probably could have bought more trucks or beer or whatever anyone fancy is.
