Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Truck died, won't keep running, 400 rpm idle ????

Pulled onto 4 lane with moderate throttle ...



truck pulled fine then instantly died ...



attempts to restart will give me a shuddering 400 rpm idle for a minute or so then it shuts off ...



no throttle response ...



no smoke ...



no codes (500 & 1693 which have been present since the DTT install 6 years ago)



fuel pressure at a steady 14 psi ALTHOUGH my lift pump died last week on the way home from work, drove last couple of miles home with 0 pressure, and yes it really was about 2 miles ...



any thoughts ...



please tell me Santa doesn't need to bring me a new VP ...

Sounds like you need to hope for a new pump under the tree.

I didn't show any vp codes, just my normal codes with the key. But they did show up with the smarty when I went back with tools, filters, etc. How are you reading the codes?

Great help with a dignosing a vp on blue chip's web site. I think you overheated the board in the vp with no fuel.

Nope, you're not alone. Mine just 216'd me on Thursday. I spent Saturday morning putting a new Schied pump on.
