Sorry boys, but "Amarillo by Mornin" takes the cake![]()
But remember this- residents get first pick, it's just like huntin season, don't get in our way.

A surprising number of 60's flower children moved into those areas too, it is an interesting contrast to see a cowboy in his pickup talking to an aging hippie in tie-dyed t-shirt and sandals This gives the small towns in the Hill Country an appeal that is difficult to describe, I guess the best way to describe it is "cool, man!"
In the smaller towns, the social scene is invariably centered around country music, farming/ranching, sports, and church.
Likewise aggressive driving can get you in dutch pretty fast, not a big issue in the cities anymore since they are full of aggressive idiots just like any city, but if you give somebody a tough time on the highway out in the sticks you may end learning first hand about road rage.
i hear ya on the city girls, but when you get one from around lubbock, and they ask ya for a "coooors light" with that accent... .![]()
Texas is a beautiful place, I think you would love it here.
You might not think so after your first Texas summer!!TMaas said:It would be kind of odd to have a vacation home in MN though, wouldn't it. :-laf
Farming in Texas isn't like the farming your probably used to or what I used to be around. Your not going to see a few thousand acres of rowcrops (corn, beans, grain) like you do in the Midwest. Not saying there isn't anything like that in Texas, but it is less common. Because the terrain, climate, etc. changes so much (it's no wonder look how big the state is) you just don't drive somewhere and see a farm and then drive a couple of hours and still see farms along the way. Farming in Texas is more about livestock with some crops mixed in. I never saw sorghum and cotton growing in fields till I moved to Texas.
The Stockshow and Rodeo each Feburary in San Antonio is pretty cool, it's like a huge county fair. Just ask Charlan about it, he can tell you all the details. You'd probably like that, it's something to see.

When the nights are clear and your out far enough away from the city, the sky is bright with stars, the most beautiful I've seen anywhere.
