Anyone know how it happened? Hate to bring back an old memory, but i'm curious. :(

I'd like to see George in concert! That would be great! :D

The guys in Texas must guard their women pretty good. I see 2 posts that asked about the women, and was waiting for some answers. None to be had. Whats the scoop? I would think that that would be one very important subject.

Thanks for bringing this up!

Yes, a man of my age, that is a very important subject.

I would like to know more about the social life, and the values down there. Chris has touched base a little about the social life, or some things that are offered. I would like to know more on the people.

Also, what are there for jobs in the diesel industry down there?

If you want the most gorgeous women in the US go to Texas.

But remember this- residents get first pick, it's just like huntin season, don't get in our way.

George is going to be up here in two weeks, but the tickets sold out before i could get them, and i tried two hours after they went on sale! :{

Sorry boys, but "Amarillo by Mornin" takes the cake

I went to High School with a Now-Cowboy's Cheerleader.

Turbodiesel-- I am on the north Side of San Antonio- 281 & Bulverde Rd. Area. Look it up on mapquest and see how far it is from ya. My Number is 210-387-4475 if ya want to call, I get off work today at 3, then have to go work out at the Rodeo for US Smokeless Tobacco Brands, but feel free to call.

-Chris-

I'll give you my take on the Texas women. The are good-looking, but most are kind of fake, the more city they are the worse. Compared to girls I have met and dated from Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee, Oregon, Virginia, and Texas the best come out of Tennesse then Ohio IMHO.

Folks in Texas are nice for the most part, and will return a hello or howdy if given, but don't readily give it as much as those do in Kentucky and Tennessee. Not as many to give you the random wave as you pass on the highway either.

I know I am going to catch hell for this one... Flame suit is on.

can u get me a job??? :-laf im of hwy 123 between seguin and san marcos. i'll give you a call later on.

ahh come on scott... LOL. it all depends where ya are on the "random" waving, i was up around yorktown the day before yesterday visiting my dad and i had forgotten about it. the people in PA dont wave @ ya! #@$%! i hear ya on the city girls, but when you get one from around lubbock, and they ask ya for a "coooors light" with that accent... .

Texas Women use to be better when I was younger (Moby Dick use to be a little fish too) but as time goes on people are more about themselves and what is in it for them, a good person is harder to find these days.

I will tell you I've been all over the World 12 Country's and like Texas Women the best(except for one Oklahoma girl ;) )

All in all Texas people are good folks but the better ones are not in the City's.

Jim

Your right Jim, all in all they are real good folks, especially those German oldtimers up in the Hill Country that always want to offer you a "soda water".

Chris, I know what you mean about PA. I met some good countrygirls out in Seguin and Luling, they have an accent of their own too. Never been to Lubbock or Amarillo, but been to most other regions of Texas. I love those girls with accents.

Scott

A surprising number of 60's flower children moved into those areas too, it is an interesting contrast to see a cowboy in his pickup talking to an aging hippie in tie-dyed t-shirt and sandals This gives the small towns in the Hill Country an appeal that is difficult to describe, I guess the best way to describe it is "cool, man!"

Sounds scary to me! :-laf Tie-dye?

In the smaller towns, the social scene is invariably centered around country music, farming/ranching, sports, and church.

That's basically what's most important to me. Except sports, cause they don't matter to me. I'll go for farming, music, and church though. Not necessarily in that order. ;) Also good women and a decent, relatively low-key social life. :D

Likewise aggressive driving can get you in dutch pretty fast, not a big issue in the cities anymore since they are full of aggressive idiots just like any city, but if you give somebody a tough time on the highway out in the sticks you may end learning first hand about road rage.

So that's why y'all have those fully-decked trucks with a lot of steel hanging around them. :-laf Didn't know why they were big down there.

My favorite! :-laf

Texas is a beautiful place, I think you would love it here.

Might take you up on that offer. We'll see where the job industry carries me. Would like to take over the family farm. Going to be a century farm for us in 2012 I believe. But hey, one or the other could be a vacation home. :D

It would be kind of odd to have a vacation home in MN though, wouldn't it. :-laf

Farming in Texas isn't like the farming your probably used to or what I used to be around. Your not going to see a few thousand acres of rowcrops (corn, beans, grain) like you do in the Midwest. Not saying there isn't anything like that in Texas, but it is less common. Because the terrain, climate, etc. changes so much (it's no wonder look how big the state is) you just don't drive somewhere and see a farm and then drive a couple of hours and still see farms along the way. Farming in Texas is more about livestock with some crops mixed in. I never saw sorghum and cotton growing in fields till I moved to Texas.

The Stockshow and Rodeo each Feburary in San Antonio is pretty cool, it's like a huge county fair. Just ask Charlan about it, he can tell you all the details. You'd probably like that, it's something to see.

Scott

Another thing I forgot to mention.

When the nights are clear and your out far enough away from the city, the sky is bright with stars, the most beautiful I've seen anywhere.

Explain more on how the climate changes please. Do you mean it goes back and forth, or it changes quickly, or ... ... ... . ?

That would be right up my alley. Always wanted to be "Bandy The Rodeo Clown"!! :D

... ... ... . the cowgirls think i'm handy, i'm Bandy the Rodeo Clown! :-laf :-laf
