This question is for the Patriot or anyone else. The Patriot stated he has ccw's for 30 states. How do you go about getting a ccw for a state that you don't live in?

Go to packing.org. It will tell you everything you need to know.

I first got Florida (I think it's good for about 28 states, more states add reciprocity all the time) I then got one for Pa. I'm getting one for Maine and New Hampshire in the mail any day now.

Florida was expensive. About $140. 00 for 5 years.

Pa was $20. 00 and was back in my mailbox within the week. Also good for 5 years.

Me and NH are $60. 00 and $20. 00. Good for 5 years.

Isnt it funny how all these states I dont even live in trust me, but my home state dont.

If you havent done anything wrong, and provide fingerprints (in the case of Fla) you should be good to go. Many states give CCW's to Non-residents.

BTW I dont agree with a "license to carry" on principle.

Rights are not a privilidge granted by the govt, theyre granted from a "higher power" upon youre first breath when youre born in the United States.

I have a funny story about carrying firearm in your vehicle. approx 10 years ago i was coming home from a hunting trip at about 2 in the morning. i did not have any luck with hunting, however 5 miles from my house 2 deer ran in front of my pick up and i could not stop in time for one of the deer. Sadly it spun in front of my truck (after i hit it) and was busted up enough that it could not walk. At the same time in my effort to stop quickly a car rear ended my truck.

Feeling bad for the deer i retrieved my scoped stainless 44 super redhawk with a 9. 5" barrel and proceeded to put the deer out of his misery. Apon exiting my truck the person who hit me from the rear seen what i was carrying and literally dove behind his car.

In retrospect it was dumb for me to do what i did. Even though it was in good intention.

There is a moral to this story and others that involve self defense. I like to carry a weapon for safety also. But the moral is:

If the other guy had had a weapon, fearing for his life, he may have instinctly drawn it and perhaps used it. In other situations entering a weapon into an agrument will escalate some situations to the point of no return. Showing a weapon at the wrong time may get you into a situation that has a bad outcome.

I have this book & it has scared the crap out of me. If anyone thinks their second ammendment rights are intact has been lulled into complacency by the liberal media and socialist politicians like Ted Kennedy, the Clintons, John Kerry and many many others. This is an exhaustive resource prepared and updated annually by an attorney.

Not even a concealed carry permit is worth much in most jurisdictions.

In DC, NJ, IL, MO and several other states or jurisdictions, you would be in less trouble commiting an asault or robbery than you would be as a law abiding citizen caught carrying a legal weapon. Of course this statement is an oxymoron because there is no such thing as a legal hand gun in NJ, DC and most of the northeast.

Good luck and happy traveling - just don't get caught carrying a firearm illegally. You will be shocked and amazed to see how easy it is to carry a weapon illegally in most jurisdictions. If you follow the law, you may as well leave the weapon at home for the good it will do you if you are accosted. In most jurisdictions, you will have to retreive the weapon from its locked case in the trunk of your vehicle or some other area inaccesible to the driver. You must then retreive the amuntion or magazine from some other 'secure' location. Then you can assemble your defense and protect yourself.

If you own a gun and you do not belong to and support the NRA with your money and vote - you are an idiot.

Remember - the government wants you to believe you can call 911 any time from any location and politely ask the criminal to wait until police arrive.

Well actually some pistols still are legal here. At least for now. Problem is there can be a midnight legislative scession that can change that at any time.

Happened before, it will happen again because people here tolerate it.

Youre probibally right about commiting an assault or robbery.

The laws have become so complex and contradictory that unless youre an expert, it's pretty difficult to stick to the letter of the law here.

Lots of times, local LEO's arent even familiar with them. :(

The NRA has given up hope here. Lets face it, Camden, Trenton and Newark run the show here (VOTES). I dont suspect too many voters worried about gun laws there. They could probibally get a pistol as easily as a pack of cigarettes.

Eric

PS A smart gun law was passed here a while back. It will outlaw pistols I believe 1 year after a "smart gun" is made available to the public.

Even though the large majority of police are shot with their own gun... . theyre exempt.

We always carry Mr Ruger in . 357, both of us have CHL's. We have ALWAYS carried, legal or not. We avoid places like the NE & Canada totally. I like the flare pistol idea though, that is a great idea.

Once while travelling we stopped to see a deer hit by a car. It had a broken back and was in serious pain. Becuase of the sheer number of people looking on I decided not to put it out of it's misery. One female, a green/hippie looking type said "poor deer, ANYONE HAVE A GUN????" (I had already called 911 and asked for an animal control person to come out so that the deer wouldnt die of dehydration, it had been there a while and had a dry, swollen tongue). So I called 911 back, retold the situation and stated I had a CHL and a weapon to do the job and could I put the deer down. The 911 operator said all units were at a fatal wreck and to go ahead and put the deer down, then she thanked me (!). I told the people what I was going to do and to get back, went and got My Ruger and ended the deers suffering. A round of applause followed.

Of course this took place in Texas. If it were anywhere else I would have been lynched for 'murdering' the deer :rolleyes: :-{}

I think it is great they got that squared away for the police officers, now if they could just get the law abiding CPL holder on equal footing that would be great!!

ditto... I sometimes travel to friends camps in three other states besides PA and carry to each... wish there was a permit that could be had to cover most if not all states...

shotgun or rifle in the gunrack at all times, 357 ruger on occaision, god bless West Virginia, carry is legal everywhere as long as it is visible to all

we're talking about at home now but in my area the county Sheriff could be as far as 20 minutes away. at any given time there are only two deputies on duty and... . well if they are on one end of the county at a call and you're on the other end of the county. You better be able to handle the situation yourself. THAT, is why my wife has completed firearms safety training and knows how to use a weapon if needed.

I carry to private campgrounds that have no security. we mostly go to state/gov. run facilities and they have DNR/conservation officers on duty at the gates and patrol the campgrounds. I would'nt get caught dead concealing in one of these areas. that would be a state/federal offense.

Here in NV, there are specific rules about pistols and rifles and how you can carry them. A CCW permit gets you around most of them in regards to a pistol, as long as it's on your CCW permit. Some states actually make you take a test with your pistol and you can only legally carry that pistol (NV).

I'm getting ready to add this pistol to my permit, just because. :)

I think you'll need some sort of cover garment for that one. :-laf

That would work pretty good with a strong side single point shoulder strap.
