I replaced mine a month ago, out of preventative maintenance and nothing else. They are 70 months old, and where I hunt I wasn't willing to risk it. .

They are now in my buddies 01 7. 3 F-250 and going strong.

My '03 w/105,000 still has the OEMs in it! Fingers crossed this winter tho... Twenty below has a way of taking a toll on batt'ries.

I have 167,00 on the original batteries in my ' 05, but the neg post connections have been corroding a lot lately. Will draining the battery and adding new sulfuric prolong the life?

I think my batteries are sealed, in which case I'd say not. But a quick call to your friendly dealer service manager would let you know. I spray my terminals every time I change oil. Maybe just take 'em off and brush 'em up a bit. That would also likely kill your clock and codes that have been set in your odometer, but that wouldn't be a problem either.

Just replaced mine.

I just replaced the factory batteries on the 06 megacab. They lasted 79k miles. I just got the truck a couple of months ago. They havent been doing so well since I got it. Been nursing them the whole time. Finally got to the point this morning and it wouldnt start at all. Accidently came across two brand new red top optimas on craigslist this morning... . For 200 bucks!!! SCORE!!!

Thanks

Craig

Still Going!

I have the original batteries in my 2001. 5, they work great but it's starting to worry me, I've never had any batteries last this long. 116K

My 01 had 6 and a half years and 100k when I traded it in. With lots of cold winter starts in Big Bear
My 98 has replacement sealed battery's by the old owner I don't know when they where put in.

Given my experience with OEMs, I gotta go with what came in the truck. Can't complain about batt'ries that are still holding up after 8 years. I think plugging the truck in when the temp goes below 20 degrees means no hard starts. That and very little stopping and starting.

My garaged 04 with 18,500 miles obviously sits around a lot. I keep the original batteries on a battery maintainer. So far so good... .....

November 02 build date on my 03 and still have the original pair... Hoping to get another Michigan winter out of them. Although my electrical engineer cousin attempted to jump start a car with backward polarity- spark show and damaged terminal.

My 04. 5 still has the orginal batteries.

For comparison, our 07 Honda CRV just had the battery replaced last weekend.

No complaints about the OEM Dodge batteries.

Just replaced the factory batteries in my '08, I only got 21,000 miles out of them. They went bad a month after the three year 36k warranty was up... Needless to say, I'm not too thrilled about that.
