Any need for a 1st Gen cold air filter?

Smarty 3G software update??

Well the 60 HP program yielded better mileage gain .

stock mpg towing total 17K 11. 2mpg

60HP program 14. 7 mpg

30 HP program 12. 9 mpg also running high speed

egt reduced 100F+ over stock

What are your thoughts on why the best mpg gains were seen with the 60hp program? Is there more timing advance on that program or is the low RPM rail pressure higher on that program?

Which 60HP program was used?

What's with the $100,000 Bar? :)

Diesel power for beginners.

Add fuel, add air. Then add more fuel and more air... . Fuel alone is not enough, you need AIR to burn it. In all evidence 30 Psi is less air than 40 Psi.

Helps?

Marco

Thanks but I already knew the basics of diesel combustion. I just dont want to be at a dissadvantage from the 04. 5+. What else is needed to be equal mod to mod. So will a larger turbo put us 03-04 owners who have a Smarty have the same HP as an 04. 5+ w/ the same larger turbo and a Smarty.

If so I will definetly get one.

P. S I'm fully aware that all years will net about the same HP when you throw alot of bombs at them, I just dont want to get crazy like I did before. I just dont want to get smoked my 04. 5+'s

Thanks :)

This is my first reply, so if I did it wrong kick me in the go-nads. First off a big hand to Marco/Stefano/Bob. I towed my 12. 5k 5er about 500 miles today, from Hershey,PA. to Independence,KY. Pre smarty I got 9. 6 mpg towing @ 70 to 75 mph.

I played around for about 35 miles with sw#3 (60 hp with timing) which was a lot of smoke. I loaded the 30 hp sw for the tow. The first tsnk I got 10. 5 mpg. The second tank I got 11. 4 mpg, both at 75 mph.

The 30 hp is plenty of power, and I could slip my stock clutch at will. Egt's were 100 to 150 degree's cooler than stock. The truck pulled way harder with less pedal than stock.

The throttle response is a lot better than expected. Turbo lag is about 1/2 a second then it is all smoke and power.

Oo.

and hey don't be a stranger around here , The TDR members are a great group of guys that would help anyone in a heartbeat.

I,ve been lurking around here before I bought my truck in 9/04, I've just never replied. I now have a reason to reply.

My advice is to anyone riding the fence on smarty is, its worth every penny.

It definitely woke my truck up from the dead. I drove a few miles tonight at 30 hp without camper, no clutch slippage, impressive. Like you said the 30 hp is fun.

LI just hold onto the the other product, Try the smarty alone and ten compare and make your choice.

It depends on what hp expectation that you would like to see. . and how deep your pockets are :-laf

just kidding.

enjoy :)

Will it be safe to leave the edge on setting 0 (stock) and use the smarty or should I disconnect the edge?

I am usually reserved on TDR, but I would like to tell all that the Smarty is very impressive and yields tons of power. Im starting to think that the ultimate stack 3 months from now will be Smarty plus TST. No need for anything else. The power from this smarty is unreal and very fun at the 30 and 60 hp for me with my tst/smarty stack.

Thanks, jason
