How long have your factory batteries lasted?

So far, a little over 6 years and 105K miles. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with them yet.

My '03 (built Oct '02, 108,000 miles) still has the originals.

Ditto. Cold starting amps still up there, which is what I depend on. Don't mess with what ain't broke. Planning on keeping the OEMs through this winter at least.

119,500 miles and still on the oem batteries although will probably buy some Diehard Platinums before the snow flies.

I bought my 02 the week after 9/11. Great time to buy a truck. They hadn't seen a customer for a week, and they were hungry.





Still have the OEM batteries in the truck. I keep thinking I should change them out. But I haven't had a problem yet. So, Ill just keep going.

My 2003 built in Nov 2002 still has the original batteries in it. I have a 3088 International tractor. The batteries just went in that. They are 14 years old.

7 years and 160,000 miles. Other than having to clean the corrosion off every now and then they are still running strong. I've considered changing them based on age, but will wait a little longer. When I do replace them, it will probably be with the OEM batteries. Part of me says that there are better batteries out there than Dodge, but I can't complain about their performance or argue with history.

I'll chime in with my 03 at 70k (built 3/03), batteries recently tested just fine. Not a daily driver but run it enough to keep them charged. Asked the tech who tested them how long I could expect and he replied that as long as the charging system was in top shape I probably would not have to worry for some time yet, whatever that means.

I can't argue with this statement. . I fell the same way about the oem brake pads on my truck.

The REAL question is are the oem batteries available NOW sourced from the same supplier or factory as they were THEN?



No way to tell, I'd guess. I'll probably go overkill with the Diehard Platinum when the time comes for mine.

Just replaced mine with 130k, listened to radio all day while working on jeep, then no crank, charged overnight with trickle charge and still low cranking amp

My 2003 has 167k miles and the original batteries. now that you mention it, I guess I should check them some time before this winter. I did notice the terminals were getting a little corroded. Cleaning them is on my to do list for next week.

Put 191k on my stockers in the '03, changed out because the negative terminals were starting to get small cracks around them. Put in a set of red top Optimas to replace them.

Had to change mine out at 87,000 and almost 4 years old. But my truck was 4 extra lights in the headache rack 30 led lights on the running boards and the standard factory dually lights. Still running the stock alternator.
