That's my point of view. I don't really care what you think of it.

If the dealers would stop treating me like a criminal and more like a customer, maybe I would feel differently.

Your uninformed opinions are a waste of bandwidth. It is normal for customers with attitudes to get the same in return. I am not surprised how you get treated.

This is the same recall that they had on the 08 and 09 trucks earlier in the year. This one has to do with the repair kits that were installed on the older trucks. I went through this back in Feb and March with the parts I had installed on my 05 and my friend's 04. 5 if you dig on here there is a thred that has some pics that I posted that show the defective parts and the Good replacement ones. Dodge issued the recall and notified the Fed's about it last year it's just now getting to us the consumer... .

I got the recall in the mail for my 03 2500 4x4 and don't recall ever having any work done but my local dealer did replace the parts mentioned. maybe they wanted to charge the work or were just playing it safe but they changed parts.

Steering

My 06 with original parts and 11500 miles had a noise in front and rear plus worn upper left ball joint. Told dealer it also had violent front shake on certain road conditions. They did H 46 pitman arm and end links, 4 new ball joints and complete rear drive shaft. Have 2 in level kit but put stock tires back on before bringing in.

The dealer will be upset when that claim bounces... ... ... ... ... .

if that is all the "recall" is i think i am going to skip it. . i don't want any clowns driving my truck & my local favorite dealer has closed up shop :(

I need to drag this thread back to the front for a minute... .....

My 06 model shook on me Saturday evening. It only did it once... . The truck has exactly 30k on it with completely stock suspension other than a BD SBS. I took a quick look under the front end this evening and I have grease all over the lower R/H ball joint. It is NOT differential fluid or brake fluid. Curiousity got the best of me, so I jacked up the right front corner and I have play in it when rocking the tire (by grasping it top and bottom. )

Its under warranty for approx. 1 more month... . I ran my VIN thru the Dodge web-site to look for re-calls, and there are none. I checked recent TDR mags and only found the TSB for front end shimmy, but its part list does NOT include ball joints?????

I really don't care about the other parts listed, but if there is a better factory ball joint, I want it... . This truck is NOT abused and a ball joint should make it WAY past 30K... .

Gonna contact the dealership in the morning, but I'd really like some clear info before I call. It seems that there is more than one front end issue on these trucks and I think I'm getting confused??????

Any help would be greatly appreciated... .

Typically ball joints die from lack of lubrication, and they don't shed lubricant as you described.

The other component that will describe the rocking motion you mentioned is the unit (wheel) bearing. They will sometimes throw grease as they go bad since they "lean" and the seal doesn't make good contact.

I kinda thought that as well, but I guess I would have expected to see grease on the inside of the wheel itself. Don't see any there, just on the lower ball joint below the u-joint on the front axle and on the tire sidewall itself... . Either way... I really hated to have to tell my father-in-law that my truck was at the shop... ... Of all days for them to make a suprise visit!!!...

Is it common to lose a unitized hub assembly in 30k of easy driving???. .

They ended up replacing several front end pieces, both front axle seals, and the H46 TSB... . I drove the truck about 100 miles round trip last night, and can DEFINITELY feel the difference. It is more like the truck always SHOULD have steered/handled.

Only bad thing was my Mag Hytec cover had to be removed due to clearance issues with the new front end parts...

Safty Recall H46 Mopar Steering Linkage

This recall notice came today 12 Sept 09.

Guess I will have to call and get the steering linkage checked this week.

It said it was a possible problem from 2003 through 2009.

Ray1933, you may want to take a look at the pictures posted earlier in this thread by DonCurley if you have not. It could save you a special trip into the dealership if you have the "old" steering linkage.
